Dividend Yield
The annual cash dividend a company pays, expressed as a percentage of its current share price.
Dividend yield tells you the cash return you'd receive from dividends alone, relative to what you'd pay for the stock today, independent of any price appreciation.
One PSX-specific detail worth knowing: companies here typically declare and announce dividends as a percentage of face value (usually Rs. 10 per share), not as a percentage of the current market price. StockPulse converts that into a market-price-based yield so it's comparable across stocks trading at very different prices.
A high yield isn't automatically good — it can also signal a falling share price (which mechanically raises the yield) or an unsustainable payout. Check the dividend's history and consistency, not just the latest yield figure.
