Methodology
How the numbers, signals, and labels on StockPulse are calculated.
Data sourcing
End-of-day (EOD) price data — open, high, low, close, and volume — for all PSX-listed symbols is synced daily after market close. Corporate actions (board meetings, book closures, dividends, AGMs, rights issues) and company announcements are ingested from PSX-published filings. All figures on the site reflect end-of-day data, not intraday/live prices.
Technical signal score
Each stock's signal score (-100 to +100) is computed mechanically from three technical indicators, weighted and combined into a single number — it is not a human or analyst opinion:
- RSI (14-day): contributes up to ±30 points. Oversold (RSI ≤ 30) and overbought (RSI ≥ 70) extremes score at the ends; values in between scale linearly around the neutral midpoint.
- MACD: contributes ±25 points depending on whether the MACD line is above or below its signal line.
- Price vs. 50-day & 200-day moving averages: contributes up to ±25 points based on whether the current price is trading above or below its MA50 and MA200 trend lines.
The three contributions are summed and clamped to the -100..+100 range, then mapped to a label (e.g. Strong Bullish, Bullish, Neutral, Bearish, Strong Bearish). This is a rules-based calculation on historical prices, not a prediction.
AI sentiment (Bullish / Neutral / Bearish)
The AI sentiment label shown on stock pages is generated by an AI model given the stock's latest price, day change, position within its 52-week range, and its moving-average trend (MA20/50/200 vs. price) as structured input — the same underlying data shown elsewhere on the page, not external or undisclosed information. The model returns one of Bullish, Neutral, or Bearish along with a short explanation.
Results are cached and only regenerated when the underlying data changes meaningfully, not on every page view. This is an AI-generated summary of quantitative signals, not investment advice or a licensed analyst's recommendation.
What this isn't
StockPulse is a data and analytics platform, not a licensed investment advisor. Signal scores and AI sentiment labels are mechanically or algorithmically generated from historical, end-of-day data — they do not account for information outside that data (news, macro conditions, management commentary) and are not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security.
