52-Week High / Low

The highest and lowest closing prices a stock has traded at over the past year, and where its current price sits within that range.

A stock's position within its 52-week range is a quick, if crude, gauge of where current sentiment sits relative to the past year: near the high suggests sustained buying interest, near the low suggests sustained selling pressure or a stock out of favour.

It's a purely historical marker, not a ceiling or floor — plenty of stocks break through a 52-week high or low and keep moving in the same direction.
